Baby and You

Whilst cravings won’t last forever, they can make your diet during pregnancy more challenging. Eating household staples, such as bread, but with additional nutritional benefits is one way to provide a tasty and nutritional component to a balanced diet, and one which is not just restricted to pregnancy.

With this in mind, we have a healthy range of bread which doesn’t compromise on taste. Our range of loaves provide varied benefits such as immune supporting nutrients like Vitamin D[1] , added fibre for gut health[2] and Vitamin B1 to support heart health[3].

It’s important to support your immune system at all times but especially during pregnancy. To help provide families with nutritious and delicious bread, we launched a new recipe for our family favourite Best of Both® loaf that is rich in Vitamin D which helps to support the immune system (available from January 25th). Our tasty Best of Both® loaf is also a source of fibre and protein, rich in calcium to maintain normal teeth and bones and is also low in fat and sugar.

We know that fibre is an important part of a balanced diet and adults have a suggested daily fibre intake of 30g[4]. Despite this, research we conducted shows that 89% of UK adults say they recognise that eating fibre each day is important, but only 38% say they ensure their diet is high in fibre[5]. To support you in your daily intake, we developed Hovis Fabulous Fibre® – a tasty loaf packed with fibre which is good for a healthy gut2, providing 1/4 of the daily target fibre4 intake in just two slices. It also contains no added preservatives.

Pregnancy is a time of significant hormonal changes and it can impact various parts of your life including how tired you feel. Our Hovis® Glorious Grains® provides natural sources of Vitamin B1, Copper, Magnesium and Phosphorus which can help to feed the body energy. In addition, these micronutrients can support heart health, contribute to the maintenance of teeth and bones and support the immune system3.
